Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue, LLC
Our mission is to provide a safe environment for Golden Retrievers & Golden hearted dogs in need through assessment, placement and continuing support.
Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue - working together with families in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, New
York, and New Jersey to find forever homes for Goldens in need.
Thank you for your
interest in Sunshine
Golden Retriever
Rescue!

We rescue Golden
Retrievers who have
been abandoned, abused
or given up by their
owners.  We are a
network of volunteers
dedicated to finding the
best possible homes for
Golden Retrievers and
Retriever mixes in need.

We carefully select
homes based on the
needs of each individual
Golden. Our adoption
process begins when a
homeless Golden
Retriever is brought into
rescue. Each dog is first
provided a medical
assessment and any
necessary treatment
including spay or neuter,
heartworm, and
vaccinations. We begin
evaluating each dog's
personality and
temperament from the
moment they are
welcomed into our
rescue.

We attempt to assess
each dog's behavior with
other dogs, children,
adults, and other animals
(when available). We
observe our dogs, to
determine as best we
can their degree of
house training, crate
training, leash walking
skills, knowledge of
commands, ability to
ride in cars, general
activity level and
exercise needs.

From this information
we are able to select the
home best suited for
each dog. During
fostering time, their
behavior is evaluated to
see how they interact
with other animals and
people. They are kept in
foster homes while their
medical needs are being
attended to. This
information is used
when selecting an
appropriate adoptive
home.
FOSTERS NEEDED

If your answer is yes to one of
the questions below, please
consider becoming one of our
fosters.

  • Would you like to help a
    dog in need?
  • Do you love Golden
    Retrievers?
  • Would you like to help
    them?

Sunshine Golden Retriever
Rescue has been successful in
rescuing more than 300 dogs and
providing forever homes
throughout the northeast.  We are
now seeking the help of
additional foster families and
individuals to provide a
temporary safe haven for more
dogs.  With more foster homes
available, the more dogs we can
rescue and allow them to find
their forever homes.

The responsibility of fostering is
to provide a safe, secure, stable
environment, and, most
importantly, the love that is
critical.  Some dogs may need
special care while others may
need just you.  Through
fostering, these animals come to
understand that the safest place
in the world is in the arms of
their caretakers. We also rely on
fosters to get to know the
individual dog's traits so we can
match the dog to the best forever
home available.  By taking just
one needy dog into your home,
you are literally making the
difference between life and death
in many cases, and allowing the
dog to continue along its journey
to the best forever home that
awaits.  Your commitment
creates a space for us to take
another dog out of the shelter and
save another life.  While your
efforts should be worth a lot of
money or gold, all we can
promise is a dog's love even
though its stay may only be a
month or two.

If you think you might like to
offer a foster home, please visit
our website at the top, it will only
take 10 minutes of your time to
find out more information, see
some of our goldens that may be
awaiting fosters, and to fill out an
application - TODAY!
